Santa Rita

Anchoring the eastern edge of San Antonio’s Hemisfair Park, Santa Rita is a 10-storey mixed-use development that reclaims downtown as a place to live, not just to visit. Developed by Trube Development and designed in collaboration with MARIMOTO Design, ICDB, and Kitspace, the project introduces 300 new apartments above a street-level restaurant pavilion designed to celebrate the city’s climate, character, and cultural blend.
Kitspace’s interior design strategy, titled Tropical Brutalism meets Mexican Modernism, channels the warmth of Texas sunlight, the textures of desert soil and river stone, and the timeless simplicity of Barragán-inspired colour and form. The design framework expresses:
- Honouring Cultural Mixture – Spaces that embrace San Antonio’s layered heritage through material honesty and subtle contrast.
- Embracing Nature – Natural light, breathable layouts, and finishes that reference the region’s red clay and vegetation.
- Calm Confidence – Durable, efficient interiors built from modular components that are cost-effective and easy to maintain.
- Placemaking for Everyone – Homes for the new locals—residents who value connection, walkability, and a sense of belonging downtown.
Kitspace’s role extends beyond aesthetics to developing a systemized interior kit that simplifies construction, reduces maintenance, and supports future adaptability. The approach delivers both operational efficiency for the owner-operator and a distinctive living experience for residents, blending community authenticity with long-term resilience.
When complete in 2027, Santa Rita will stand as a benchmark for culturally rooted urban housing in the American Southwest — a project where architecture, industry, and identity meet under the San Antonio sun.
